Well, we made through the first leg of the holiday. I'm in Jersey.
The night we came in, Ryan took me to some a party where a bunch of his brother's friends who hadn't seen him since high school would be. It was an Eagles game-watching party. I thought, ok. I like football. I like the Eagles. I figured it'd be about 12-15 people and some wings.
Yeah, right. Try a keg and about 60 people. There were people watching the game. There were people socializing. There was Beer Pong going on in the basement. We played Asshole. It was really weird. With the exception of Beer Pong, which I had never heard of (and I have discovered I suck at), it felt like I was in high school and somebody's parents were out of town. And these guys are a couple years older than Ryan, too.
I guess I know people that are like that, to an extent, back home. But it seemed amplified. To be 26-27 years old and still party with every high school friend you ever had- weird. Doesn't anyone move away? Other than Ryan, that is?
I also baked cookies yesterday with Ryan's Mom and his brother's girlfriend. I'm talking assloads of cookies. Molasses, chocolate chip, oreo shortbread, bear claw sugar smack cookies, eggnog cookies, icebox cookies.... hell if I remember the rest. It's kind of a blur. It's kinda nice though. I've never spent Christmas with Ryan's family before, but their enthusiam about the holiday season makes me feel at home. They really go all out, and you cannot help but be swept up into it.
