Oh yeah. I don't know why the comments say "poseurs" instead of "comments." Hell, I don't even know what "poseurs" means. Only that it started doing that at some point over Christmas on everyone's site I've seen that uses the same comments folk, and I can't seem to make it go away. Maybe a wild group of French hackers are trying to take over the internet. Oooh, they changed my comments tag. Or! Even worse, maybe it was a wild group of French Canadians! Oooh, scary. Betta watch out, or they will get you with their vagrant French usuage, their hockey sticks, and their pop-rock infested pudding!

Yeah, I know I'm about to get flamed by Justine. Go on girl, poseur away. ;)

Update: Ryan suggested actually going to the host site to fix it, which I did. Yeah, I'm a moron.
The thing I hate most about January is the post-holiday home reorganization, which I have steadily avoiding doing this week.

You get all this stuff, and you have to find a place for it go. Often that involves rearranging entire closets (or in our case this year, kitchens). There is a huge stack of boxes in front of the stove of random kitchen things with no home yet. I think I'm going to have to rearrange the entire pantry to make room for a deep fryer and a food processor. I still haven't figured out where the set of thirty "entertainmentware" glasses that Ryan got from my dad are headed to. All that is on the roster for today. Today being the morning after I spent most of last night at Court's house creating my hair dye masterpiece (it's a sable brown with flaming red streaks throughout- go me!). Not to mention a couple of Margueritas and a Footloose viewing.

What's cool about this weekend- Tomorrow marks the official one month anniversary of me no longer biting my nails. I have accomplished this feat not by actually keeping my damned fingers out of my mouth (which would be true cause for celebration), but by maintaining nice fake nails for four weeks instead. They are an entirely unsatisfying gnaw, so I don't chew them.

I know it doesn't seem like much of an accomplishment, but let me explain. First of all, I bite my nails Big Time. My nailbed is already abnormally short. Add to that hardly any nail left after I'm done with them, and there's not enough nail surface area for a fake nail to really cling to for any length of time. Fake nails are a CHORE to maintain, because I end up having to replace at least 2 of them every three days or so. They just up and fall off. Because of this, I cannot fathom paying for a proffesional set if I have to keep going back every other day to get them replaced. I would've spent well over $100 by now if that were the case. So I'm doing it myself. And I have dutifily replaced and repolished and kept my stubs in shape for four weeks now.

During the traveling bit, there were three days where I didn't have any on, because there didn't seem any point in it. I had one slip up, where I bit a chunk off of my one ring finger. I did manage to leave them alone other than that for those three days. That is huge for me.

Here's my forecast- By the end of this month, I will feel confident enough in my newly grown nails that a professional set of acrylics will stay on long enough to merit paying for them. Then, I'm going to keep them done for about six months, or until I feel I'm ready to resist bare nails. I'm hoping that the inability to bite them will break the habit. It doesn't bother me that I will spend another 6 months restoring and fixing the state they'll be in after long use of acrylics- I can deal with that. I just want to stop biting them.

For some reason, I feel like I can't be a grown-up while I have raggedy, awful looking hands. I can't be a lady. I know it's silly, but I can't help it. It's been bothering me for a while now. And I'm ready now. It's like the last barrier that I must pass to come of age. I decided that when my nails grow out and I'm ready to take off the acrylics, then I'm going to reward myself with my wings tattoo, which I've mentioned before and I would link to if my archives were working properly. I want wings on my ankle, reminscent of Hermes' winged sandals. Again, silly. But I've bit my nails all my life. It's so second nature to me, it's like unconsciously scratching an itch. If I can succeed at this, then I can do anything.

Well, y'all, I'm back. Actually I've been back, but I've also been busy.

Here's what you need to know:

I'm back (but I already told you that, didn't I?).

Christmas was great. Everyone loved their gifts from Ryan and me, which is always nice. I also got quite the load myself.
I won't go over the whole list, but here are some of the highlights-
- An honest to goodness, really real vacuum cleaner. It's a Dirt Devil, and its called The Scorpion. How cool is that?
- Groovy new pajamas. I am a pajama freak, but due to the brokeness, I haven't exactly been updating my collection.
- Lucky You perfume. I have a teensy bottle of Chanel Allure that I wear on special occasions (its my favorite), but I wanted something smelly for every day. Thanks, hon.
- A baking stone, so that I can make bread.
- The boy and I got several kitchen accessories from The Pampered Chef.
- A gift certicifate to Sephora.com.
- The Special Collectors Edition Spidey DVD box set.

Also had a pretty cool birthday. I was at my Mom's in Virginia, and we went to a Roanoke Express hockey game. They sucked a whole lot of ass, and lost. They played a team from Trenton, and, being as how it was a NJ team, Ryan felt obligated to cheer for them. My little sisters thought that Trenton had cooler jersies than Roanoke, so they, too, cheered for the opposing team. Naturally, my mom and I had to holler louder for Roanoke. I probably would've cheered for NJ, too, as they seemed a better team and I don't even like the city I was born in, but it became a matter of personal dignity (meaning competition. I can't do the same thing Ryan does, that's no fun!).

I got a raise. Not a substantially huge one, but more than I was expecting to get. I have also incurred some new job responsibility (ugh), which includes being in charge of the text for the redesign of the Business School website. Its a huge job, but on the other hand, it will be excellent for my resume.

I quit biting my nails. I hope. But more on that later, because I need to get back to being all busy-like.

And I do believe that should just about have you caught up.
Beware of rambling, babbling, sillyness, really long yet grammatically correct sentences, and occasional bouts of wisdom.
